The SILVARSTAR project will bring to important advances in the knowledge and management of problems related to noise and vibrations in the railway sector.
In accord with the Shift2Rail work programme 2020, the project will contribute to the following expected impacts:
- Improve the planning process of new lines or the upgrade of existing lines
- Create a commonly accepted model for ground vibration impact studies
- Evaluate construction projects based on their impact on ground vibration emission for citizens
- Access to a fully functional software for auralisation and visualisation of trains
- Test different noise mitigation measures and assess modification of interior noise
- Enable clear communication and conscious decision-making
Possible applications of project results include also:
- Demonstration of future noise situations to local communities and politicians
- Generation of stimuli for psychoacoustic experiments on sound perception
